Bio

Katrine Bach is a strategic advisor and co-founder of Connected Women in AI, one of Denmark’s largest communities focused on women’s participation in AI, with more than 12,000 members. Her work sits at the intersection of technology, business and people. She works with leaders and organisations on how AI is changing work and organisations, and on what it takes for people to move from simply having access to new technology to actively using and shaping it. A recurring question in Katrine’s work is who gets to participate when technologies and institutions are changing — and what changes when a broader range of people do. Her work increasingly extends across entrepreneurship, investment and other areas where participation can influence what gets built, funded and brought into the world. Katrine is the license holder and lead curator of TEDxFrederiksstadenWomen.

I'm passionate about

I'm passionate about communities, connecting people and beauty... in design, spaces and the things we surround ourselves with.

An idea worth spreading

Who participates shapes what comes next. We often think influence belongs to the people who invent, lead or make the biggest decisions. But participation itself is a form of power. Who gets to participate — and who chooses to — influences what gets built, funded and understood. Expanding participation can therefore change more than individual opportunity. It can change the future we create.

The TED story

My work with Connected Women in AI has made me increasingly interested in participation — and particularly in what happens when more women step into areas where they have historically been less present. TEDxWomen gave me an opportunity to take that question beyond AI, into areas like capital, ownership, health and science. I’ve always liked TED’s ability to make you interested in something you didn’t know you were interested in, so creating TEDxFrederiksstadenWomen felt like a natural next step.

Things you might not know

I’m good at navigating the world as an extrovert, although I’m an introvert by nature.
