Bio

Kavita Gupta is an educator, speaker, and instructional leader who believes the greatest untapped resource for solving today's challenges is the potential of young people. Her work is driven by a simple but transformative idea: when students are trusted with meaningful work, authentic audiences, and opportunities to lead, they don't just learn—they become changemakers. For more than two decades, Kavita has designed innovative learning experiences that elevate student voice, foster agency, and empower learners to investigate authentic local and global challenges. She is the creator of the Interdisciplinary Research and Project Design (IRPD) framework, a model that reimagines traditional research through inquiry, interdisciplinary learning, mentorship, storytelling, and community action. Her work challenges schools to redefine success—not as mastering content alone, but as developing the curiosity, confidence, and leadership needed to improve communities. Kavita has designed and facilitated professional learning for educators across the United States, supporting schools in creating authentic, student-centered learning experiences that prepare young people for an increasingly complex world. Her work spans environmental sustainability, systems thinking, climate literacy, Portrait of a Graduate competencies, and student leadership, connecting classrooms with scientists, community partners, and real-world challenges. A National Geographic Grosvenor Teacher Fellow and former National Geographic Education Fellow, Kavita's work has been featured by National Geographic, including the documentary *Women of Impact*. She is a frequent presenter at regional and national conferences, where she inspires educators and leaders to rethink the purpose of education. Her talks explore one essential question: **What becomes possible when we stop teaching students what to think and instead empower them to think, lead, and act for themselves?** **Learn more:** • Interdisciplinary Research and Project Design (IRPD): https://irpdelders.wixsite.com/irpd • Professional Portfolio: https://chemistryresource.weebly.com/

I'm passionate about

Elevating youth voices and their impact.

An idea worth spreading

Her talks explore a simple but transformative idea: when schools stop treating students as recipients of knowledge and start trusting them as researchers, storytellers, and changemakers, education becomes one of the most powerful forces for solving the challenges of our time.
