Bio

Throughout my career, I have worked where leadership, public trust, capital investment, and place converge—helping organizations navigate consequential decisions with clarity, disciplined execution, and long-term perspective. My professional experience spans private enterprise, federal service, city government, and destination leadership. I have advised boards, CEOs, elected officials, and senior government leaders in environments where visibility is high, competing interests must be reconciled, and decisions have lasting public and financial consequences. At the Port of San Diego, I oversaw marketing, communications, public art, parks and recreation, and commercial activation while directing stakeholder strategy for a $4.8 billion waterfront redevelopment portfolio. The work required aligning five member cities, commissioners, developers, environmental organizations, businesses, and residents around a shared vision for one of California's most significant urban waterfront transformations. As Chief Marketing Officer for the City of Norfolk, Virginia, I led the city's brand repositioning and aligned marketing with economic development initiatives designed to strengthen investment, talent attraction, and civic identity. I executive-produced a PBS documentary on the historic Attucks Theatre that received an Emmy Award, and produced the nationally recognized Norfolk Police Department *Uptown Funk* campaign, whose viral success was featured by *NBC Nightly News*, *Inside Edition*, and media outlets around the world. Earlier in my career, I served in senior leadership roles at the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Following the September 11 terrorist attacks, I served as Senior Advisor to the Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, helping lead public diplomacy initiatives during a period of unprecedented international attention and geopolitical change. The work required coordinating across the White House, U.S. embassies, and multiple federal agencies while ensuring that policy, communications, and credibility remained aligned under intense global scrutiny. As Founder and CEO of Mead Brown Costa Rica, I built and operated a luxury hospitality, property management, and experiential travel company serving an international clientele. That experience reinforced a lesson that has remained constant throughout my career: exceptional outcomes are achieved through thoughtful systems, attention to detail, disciplined execution, and genuine stewardship. Today, I am the founder of Brown Estate Advisory and co-founder of Kyote Fund, two ventures based in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Through Brown Estate Advisory, I provide discreet owner representation, project oversight, and property stewardship for discerning homeowners, helping clients manage complex homes, renovations, and trusted teams with precision, accountability, and long-term care. As co-founder of Kyote Fund, I focus on thoughtfully selected real estate and placemaking opportunities throughout Mexico. The firm's approach emphasizes design stewardship, cultural authenticity, community participation, and long-term value creation, guided by the belief that meaningful places are shaped not only by financial performance, but also by architecture, craftsmanship, landscape, and responsible stewardship. Across every chapter of my career, one conviction has remained constant: durable success is built through trust. Whether leading public initiatives, advising institutions, or shaping places, I have found that the most enduring value is created where sound governance, thoughtful design, disciplined investment, and genuine stewardship come together. Outside of my professional work, I am proud to support TEDxSanMigueldeAllende and the exchange of ideas that inspire thoughtful leadership, curiosity, and meaningful change.
