There are three types of kindness one can show towards someone. Often people call them "helps". First, there is the effective help which I like to call "technical help". This is when one helps hands on, getting involved physically in another one's problems. Then, there is the moral help when one helps by morally supporting another one, still getting involved but not technically. Most of the people would consider that these are all kinds of help there are. But there is more: there is the basic help, the most basic kindness one can show towards another human being, and that is - making sure they don't suffer because of your actions. No matter how bad one's situation is, no matter if you can or cannot help them, no human being has the right to make them suffer more than they already do. I think that this last basic help is what makes us truly human.
