About SHIWEI

Bio

Shiwei obtained both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Visual Communication from the UNSW Sydney. With 14 years of experience in art and design education, Shiwei currently serves as the Teaching Director of AF Zhejiang, while also leading the Academic Research and Copywriting Departments. He is comprehensively responsible for academic management, curriculum development, product design iteration, international resource integration, and strategic guidance for high-end overseas study applications. Shiwei has long been dedicated to the teaching and research of speculative design and critical design, advocating for design as a response to contemporary social issues such as sustainability, population aging, urbanization, technological alienation, and cultural identity. He encourages students to develop projects with depth and social responsibility based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As the head of the academic copywriting team, Shiwei is deeply involved in the strategic planning and narrative development of students’ overseas study applications. From project statements and research motivations to narrative structure and issue positioning, he helps students precisely communicate the core values and conceptual strengths of their creative work, building portfolios that are logically rigorous, conceptually distinctive, and internationally competitive. Shiwei possesses extensive experience in both the development and teaching of technologies including Processing, Arduino, P5.js, and C programming. He has also conducted in-depth practical research in cutting-edge fields such as ROS2 robotic systems, servo control, robotic arms, and artificial intelligence neural networks. He is committed to advancing interdisciplinary education that integrates “Technology × Art,” introducing computational thinking into creative design practice. Shiwei maintains strong international academic collaborations and has worked alongside Ali Rahim, Rui Pereira, Brad MacDonald, and Jay Jackson to jointly develop and deliver workshops and offline courses in frontier disciplines including artificial intelligence, interaction design, augmented reality (AR) development, and animation. These collaborations have enabled students to engage directly with globally leading practices at the intersection of design and technology. Shiwei has successfully guided more than 300 students to gain admission to QS Top 100 global universities and the world’s top-ranked art and design institutions, including Columbia University, University of Cambridge, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Southern California, New York University, Royal College of Art, University of the Arts London, University College London, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology across disciplines including interaction design, new media art, systems design, and AI-integrated creative practice.
