My name is Aliya Borchers, and I am graduating from Western Oregon University with my Bachelor's in Communications studies in June 2026. I am also pursuing my Master's in Organizational Leadership and will graduate in June 2027. I have also worked in Philanthropy for the past 5 years. I started as a Development Assistant at Willamette University and now work as an Administrative Assistant at Western Oregon University's Foundation Office. My goal after graduation is to continue working in Higher Education and Philanthropy.

My TED story starts with a class on Organizational Behavior. I was preparing to miss the first class of the term with a Professor who I had never met before, Michelle Jones. We met and quickly hit it off. I shared my story and experience with her, then she asked me if I was interested in volunteering for TEDxMtHood. I was honored to have the opportunity to put on such an inspiring event, and the rest is history!
