Bio
I'm Gideon Merakanapalli, a student entrepreneur, speaker, and community leader from North Carolina. As the Co-Founder and CFO of CUBO LLC, I help develop technology that addresses distracted driving through AI-powered driver monitoring systems. Our work has been featured by CBS 17, GrepBeat, and IEEE Spectrum, and I had the opportunity to exhibit at CES 2026 as one of its youngest exhibitors. Beyond entrepreneurship, I serve as Junior Class President, participate in YMCA Youth & Government, and lead TEDx Student Talks at my school. I'm passionate about building solutions, bringing people together, and proving that age is never a limitation to creating meaningful impact.
I'm passionate about
I'm passionate about entrepreneurship, technology, public speaking, policy, and leadership. I enjoy building ventures that solve real-world problems, connecting with people who challenge my thinking, and turning ambitious ideas into tangible results. From presenting at international competitions and CES to debating legislation and organizing student initiatives, I love opportunities that combine innovation with impact. Above all, I'm driven by the belief that meaningful change happens when people take initiative and work together to solve problems.
An idea worth spreading
Young people are often told they're the leaders of tomorrow, but they can be leaders today. Some of the most impactful ideas begin when students stop waiting for permission and start solving problems they see around them. Whether it's launching a startup, advocating for policy change, leading a community initiative, or sharing a story, meaningful impact doesn't require a certain age or title. When curiosity is paired with action, young people can create solutions that influence industries, communities, and lives.

The TED story
My TED journey began through TED-Ed Student Talks, where I developed and delivered a talk called Building More Than Muscle. In it, I shared how fitness became a source of resilience and personal growth after losing my father at age 12. The experience taught me that the most powerful talks aren't just about information—they're about connection. Since then, TED has become more than a stage for me; it's become a platform for helping students discover their voices, share their stories, and spread ideas that can inspire others to take action.
Things you might not know
Building relationships and creating opportunities from conversations. Many of my projects, partnerships, and ventures started with a simple introduction, a question, or an unexpected meeting. I enjoy connecting ideas, people, and organizations in ways that create value for everyone involved. Behind every presentation, startup, or initiative is usually a lot of networking, planning, and problem-solving that most people never see.
