Bio
Hi. I'm Orekoya Esther. O, an academic administrator, researcher, and educator passionate about advancing health education, scientific research, and academic excellence. I serve as the Director of Academic Administration and Strategy at Adebayo Alao Akala College of Health Sciences, where I contributes to institutional development, curriculum enhancement, and strategic educational initiatives.
I'm a strong advocate for evidence-based decision-making, lifelong learning, and empowering young people through education. I believe that meaningful change begins with informed conversations and that science should not remain confined to laboratories but should influence everyday choices, public health, and policy.
As a TEDx speaker, I share insights on the intersection of science, education, and human well-being, inspiring audiences to think critically, embrace curiosity, and recognize the transformative power of knowledge.
I'm passionate about
I'm passionate about transforming lives through education, advancing scientific research, promoting women's health, and inspiring people to use knowledge as a tool for personal and societal change. I believe that when science is communicated effectively and education is accessible, individuals and communities are empowered to make better decisions and create lasting impact.
An idea worth spreading
The earliest stages of health are shaped by everyday habits long before disease appears, and understanding the science behind those habits gives us the power to change our future.
Areas of expertise
and academic leadership, nutritional science, Reproductive health, with a focus on translating scientific research into practical knowledge that improves health and education.
The TED story
I've always been fascinated by one question: How do the small choices we make today shape the lives we live tomorrow?
That curiosity has guided my journey as an educator, researcher, and academic leader. While many people see science as something confined to laboratories and textbooks, I've come to see it as a language that explains our everyday lives; from the food we eat to the health we experience, and from the knowledge we gain to the decisions we make.
Beyond the laboratory, my work in academic leadership has given me another perspective. I've seen how education can unlock human potential, not simply by providing information but by inspiring people to think critically, ask better questions, and make informed choices. Whether mentoring students, supporting institutional growth, or conducting research, my purpose has remained the same to use knowledge as a catalyst for positive change.
My TEDx journey is an opportunity to bring these worlds together. I want to show that science is not just about experiments; it is about people. It is about the everyday decisions that shape our health, our families, and our future. I believe that when research is translated into meaningful conversations, it becomes a powerful tool for empowerment rather than information reserved for experts.
Through my TEDx talk, I hope to challenge assumptions, spark curiosity, and encourage people to rethink the ordinary choices that quietly influence extraordinary outcomes. If even one person leaves inspired to make healthier decisions, ask deeper questions, or appreciate the value of evidence-based knowledge, then sharing my story will have been worthwhile.
This is more than a talk for me. It is an extension of my life's work and my commitment to advancing education, promoting scientific literacy, and helping people recognize that lasting change often begins with one informed decision.
