Bio
Evan Yangwen Huo is a designer, curator, and educator who integrates design practice with educational innovation. He holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Southern California (USC) and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Art Design from Tsinghua University. With extensive research and professional experience across China, the United States, Europe, and New Zealand, Evan approaches space, society, and human experience through a cross-cultural and interdisciplinary lens.
As Co-founder and Chief Education Officer of AF International Art Center, Evan leads the development of an integrated system for art and design education and study abroad services. In 2020, AF became part of New Channel International Education Group and now operates as its International Art Division, dedicated to building a globally oriented, high-end platform for art and design education. Evan advocates for personalized education, respecting each student’s individuality, uncovering their unique strengths, and guiding them to construct distinctive application profiles through interdisciplinary thinking. Under his mentorship, students have gained admission to top institutions such as Harvard University, the University of Cambridge, Cornell University, the Royal College of Art, and the Rhode Island School of Design.
In the field of design, Evan has worked at leading international firms including AECOM and OMA (Office for Metropolitan Architecture), contributing to projects in urban regeneration, commercial spaces, and public cultural environments. Through these experiences, he has developed his design methodology of “space as narrative,” integrating cultural context, contemporary functions, and public experience. His research focuses on resilient and sustainable urban design, urban micro-renewal, and interdisciplinary integrated design practices.
He has also served as the curator of the “I AM HERE” Young Artists Exhibition for eight consecutive years, continuously creating platforms for emerging young artists to engage with the public. For Evan, creativity and visual language are not merely forms of expression, but mediums that connect individual experience with broader social and cultural narratives.
In addition, Evan serves as a Teaching Fellow at Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts and Design Director of Hybrid House Design. He has been selected for the G20 Young Entrepreneurs Alliance Elite Program and is a member of the Tsinghua University Young CEO Club. He is also affiliated with the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) and the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects (NZILA). His design work has received multiple international awards, including the DNA Design Awards, the Paris Design Awards, and the International Design Awards (IDA) etc.
Evan is committed to constructing systems of idea dissemination through the language of design, building a contemporary framework of creative expression between content and perception. He believes: design shapes space, education transforms pathways, and expression allows ideas to truly be seen.
