I am a big believer in TED, but I've never spent a significant amount of time on the website. That's something I wanted to change. So today, when I had some time to spare, I decided to log on to the website and search for a five minute, inspirational talks. TED led me to a talk by Matt Cutts titled 'Try something new for 30 days.' So I watched it. And much to my surprise, he brought up National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). I am currently halfway through NaNoWriMo and desperately want to quit. I hate what I'm working on and feel like a failure of a writer. But this guy did it. And he's able to laugh about the fact that the novel he wrote was terrible, because he wrote it in 30 days. When I went to TED today looking for inspiration, I was hoping to find a talk that would inspire me to keep trying to do NaNoWriMo. The universe or God or maybe just happy coincidence led me to a talk that specifically mentions what I'm trying to do. And that's pretty magical.
