Dr. Michaela Tahlia Singh is a visionary leader, medical innovator, and advocate for healthcare transformation in South Africa and beyond. As the Co-founder and Chairperson of Alpha and Omega MedTech, she has been instrumental in shaping the South African medical technology landscape. The company, a SAHPRA-licensed medical device firm, is a CDC Africa & African Union: Africa Medical Supplies Official Vendor, providing cutting-edge diagnostics. Under her leadership, Alpha and Omega MedTech has driven policy reform, chaired the South African National MedTech Masterplan Global Value Chains working Group, and facilitated one of the largest medical donations in the COVID-19 pandemic—R25 million worth of rapid antibody test kits to the South African Medical Research Council. Additionally, the company has pioneered skills development, training over 150 African scientists and engineers, strengthening South Africa’s biomedical sector.   Beyond entrepreneurship, Dr. Michaela is a highly skilled medical doctor, serving her 2nd year of Medical Internship at Groote Schuur Hospital, balancing clinical excellence with systemic impact. As the WC representative of the Junior Doctors Association of the South African Medical Association, she is a strong advocate for young medical professionals, influencing policies that support doctors in training. Her contributions extend to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses in collaboration with the Western Cape Department of Health, ensuring continuous education for healthcare workers.   Dr. Michaela’s influence reaches global platforms. As a 2025 Mandela Washington Fellow, a prestigious honour awarded by the U.S. State Department, she represents the next generation of African healthcare leaders. She actively engages in international policy discussions, including AGOA, BRICS, FOCAC, the UN SDGs, and the National Development Plan, advocating for youth entrepreneurship and healthcare innovation.   A passionate champion for women in surgical careers, she has dedicated her efforts to breaking barriers in a male-dominated field. Her leadership extends to social impact initiatives, having served as a board member of the Aryan Benevolent Society, supporting community health programs in Pietermaritzburg.
