About Jahanzeb
Bio
I’m building Pop.com, a virtual office for remote teams that aims to address the biggest issue remote workers report facing: emotional disconnection. We have a handful of beta users that love us, and I believe we’re onto something potentially revolutionary, that could unlock tremendous opportunity for companies and employees alike. Our core design philosophy is to design not just for people’s information needs, but also for their emotional and embodied needs.
Check out the video and sign up for the beta at https://new.pop.com.
Previously, I was the co-founder/CEO of Screenhero, a collaborative screen sharing product that was acquired by Slack in 2014. My team built videoconferencing in Slack.
Previously, I got my PhD in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University, where I worked on voice interfaces for non-literate users in the developing world. Think Siri, but many years before that, in minority languages, for female community health workers that have never been to school, using a landline.
I'm passionate about
The intersection of emotional needs & software.
An idea worth spreading
Most software is built by people in their heads, for other heads. But we are embodied, emotional beings, and our needs are usually not considered in a holistic way. The next generation of software companies that will succeed will be those that recognize this truth.
