The TED story

People often see me as the girl who has it all together — smiling, confident, and living what looks like a perfect, happening life. But the truth is, my calm was never natural — it was built from chaos. Growing up as the second daughter, I often felt unseen. Not because I wasn’t loved, but because expectations had already been set. I was compared, misunderstood, and silently told to be “the easy one.” Everyone thought I was just enjoying life — but no one saw the battles I was fighting inside. There were days when my smile was my only shield. I struggled with my mental health, with trying to fit in, and with feeling like my emotions were too heavy to be heard. I learned to stay quiet, to stay composed — until one day I realized, staying calm didn’t mean staying silent. It meant learning to breathe when the world felt too loud. It meant finding peace within myself when my surroundings felt overwhelming. It meant turning my pain into perspective — and my chaos into calm. Through my journey, I discovered that being strong doesn’t always mean being loud or fearless. Sometimes, strength is soft. It’s in showing up even when you feel invisible. It’s in choosing kindness when you’ve been misunderstood. It’s in holding yourself together when everything around you is falling apart. Today, I stand here not as someone who’s figured it all out — but as someone who’s learning every day to turn her struggles into strength. Because calm is not something you’re born with — it’s something you create within yourself. And if my story reminds even one person that it’s okay to feel, to fall, and to rise again — then every bit of my chaos was worth it.
