Bio
Giacomo Scorcia is a transformational business educator and curriculum leader who has spent more than two decades shaping how young people think about learning, leadership, and integrity in a rapidly changing world. His work sits at the intersection of neuroscience, pedagogy, and purpose — a space where curiosity and craftsmanship replace compliance and convenience.
A longtime curriculum head in one of Ontario’s largest and most diverse secondary schools, Giacomo has led programs that merge business education with global leadership, digital literacy, and authentic learning. His classrooms are known for their intellectual rigor and human connection — places where students don’t just earn grades but learn to question, create, and take ownership of their ideas.
Giacomo is also the founder of Avanti Insights, an educational and organizational initiative dedicated to cultivating what he calls a Culture of Craftsmanship — a philosophy that reimagines excellence in the age of AI. Rather than catching students misusing technology, his approach challenges them to prove the authenticity of their work, transforming integrity from a rule into a habit of mind. He believes that in an era of automation, the ultimate competitive advantage is not information but intention — the ability to care deeply about one’s work and to stand behind it.
His current project, “Creating a Culture of Craftsmanship in the Age of AI,” explores how education can reclaim its moral and creative center. Drawing from the wisdom of thinkers like Ron Berger (An Ethic of Excellence) and Sōetsu Yanagi (The Unknown Craftsman), Giacomo argues that craftsmanship is not nostalgia — it is the antidote to apathy. Through practical frameworks and real classroom examples, he shows how teachers and leaders can reframe the AI revolution as an invitation to rehumanize learning.
Beyond education, Giacomo’s philosophy resonates with leaders and organizations seeking meaning in a data-driven world. His talks and workshops help teams reconnect excellence with authenticity — reminding professionals that mastery is not measured by output alone but by the pride and precision with which the work is done.
For Giacomo, every student, teacher, and leader shares the same essential challenge: to move from consumption to creation, from speed to depth, and from performance to purpose. His work invites audiences to see education — and, by extension, their own professions — as acts of craftsmanship: humble, human, and capable of joy.
An idea worth spreading
The future of education will not be built on compliance or code — it will be built on collective efficacy. When educators cultivate craftsmanship together, they transform schools from systems of accountability into communities of purpose, restoring the joy and integrity of human learning.
