I am a long-serving teacher of Science and Chemistry. Having lived in the UK, Hong Kong, and Luxembourg, I have valuable experience in experiencing and embracing different cultures. I continually seek to broaden my personal learning of different subjects and cultures through extensive reading and travel.

Science education, learning the lessons of history, appreciation of music

Science education in schools evolves at a snail's pace compared to the advances which are taking place in the professional scientific world. There needs to be a bridge connecting the ever-widening chasm between theory and practice. An overhaul of many science curricula is required to help overcome this, and get people switched back onto science.

I have organised TEDx events in the last 3 schools I have taught in, and used it as an attempt to improve students' confidence, research, and leadership skills. I have also given a TEDx talk in my previous school, about my experiences as a tourist in North Korea

cooking - mainly because I don't have the time to practice this in front of an audience very often!
