I think effective leadership is based on communication. The essence of leadership is not giving orders, but establishing dialogue. Leading through listening to feedback helps the leaders know the needs and strengths of their teams thus each voice is considered. Communication creates trust which in turn creates collaboration. When a person feels that somebody listens, he/she feels empowered to give the best. In my case, leadership is the process of directing a group of individuals in the realization of an objective, but at the same time, there must be input by all individuals in the process. Exceptional leaders not only talk, they also listen, relate and motivate.
