Abrar Ullah

Educator/Teacher

Dr. Abrar Ullah has been working as an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Heriot-Watt University (Dubai) since 2019. He earned his PhD in Security and Usability from the University of Hertfordshire, UK. With over 25 years of combined industry and academic experience, Abrar has extensive expertise in teaching and enterprise system development. He began his teaching career in 2002 as a lecturer at the University of Peshawar and the Provincial Health Services Academy in Peshawar. In 2008, Abrar joined ABMU NHS in the UK as a Lead Developer, contributing to several critical NHS systems. In 2011, he moved to Cardiff University as Team Lead & Senior Systems Analyst within Professional Services, where he led multiple successful strategic and national-level projects. During this time, he also lectured in Digital Media Design at the School of Medicine. In 2017, Abrar became a lecturer at the School of Management and Computer Science at Cardiff Metropolitan University, while simultaneously serving as Lead Developer at NHS Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) until 2019.

I am deeply passionate about the environment, education, and understanding life in all its diverse forms. As an environmentalist and educator, I am driven by a commitment to sustainability and to fostering awareness about our relationship with nature and the living world around us. I am also strongly committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of life. I believe that every individual should have the opportunity to be seen, heard, and valued, and that true progress comes from embracing differences rather than overlooking them. At the core of my passion is a curiosity about existence itself, how life evolves, connects, and coexists, and how education and awareness can inspire people to belong, celebrate, live more responsibly, compassionately, and inclusively.

The idea worth spreading is that belonging, equality, diversity, and inclusion are not optional values, but essential foundations for a healthy and thriving society. In a rapidly changing and increasingly interconnected world, people often struggle with isolation, identity, and a sense of displacement. This idea emphasizes that every individual has the right to feel seen, valued, and included, regardless of their background, culture, identity, or experience. When people feel that they belong, they are more likely to contribute meaningfully, collaborate effectively, and grow collectively. By embracing equality and celebrating diversity, communities move beyond tolerance toward genuine inclusion, where differences are not merely accepted but appreciated as strengths. This shift transforms individuals into empowered participants and societies into more compassionate, innovative, and resilient spaces. Ultimately, this idea encourages us to actively build environments, whether in education, workplaces, or society at large, where inclusion is intentional, belonging is cultivated, and diversity becomes a source of unity rather than division.
