About Sharon

Bio

I’m a passionate storyteller, social media strategist, and advocate for empowering others to share their voices. With a background in public speaking, leadership, and creating impactful content, I’ve had the privilege of working with organizations like the International Women’s Surgical Society and IJCR Central, where I help amplify ideas and voices in meaningful ways. As a co-head of the TEDxTSMU social media team, I believe in the power of storytelling to spark change and create connections. When I’m not managing content, I’m focused on shaping teams, mentoring others, and finding creative ways to inspire action.

I'm passionate about

My passions can be summed up in four core values: empowerment, leadership, creativity, and learning. These drive everything I do, from social media strategy to public speaking and mentoring.

An idea worth spreading

There is an unspoken rule we grow up with: be careful. Don’t walk alone. Don’t stay out too late. Hold your keys between your fingers. Smile politely. Be agreeable. Be small. These are the whispered lessons taught under the guise of safety, especially to women and marginalized individuals. But what if we shifted that narrative? What if safety wasn’t about restriction—but empowerment? What if instead of being told to avoid danger, we were taught how to face it with confidence and clarity? This is where self-defense comes in—not just as a physical skill, but as a transformative mindset. Self-defense is more than a punch or a kick. It’s the radical idea that you have the right to take up space, to protect yourself, and to walk through the world with confidence. It is an idea worth spreading, especially now

The TED story

I’ve always found power in words—whether it was speaking on stage, leading a team, or crafting stories behind the scenes. Joining TEDxTSMU felt natural. It’s where my love for expression meets a bigger purpose: helping voices be heard and ideas take flight.
