About Kinza

I am a…

Brainstormer, Explorer, Idea generator, Project manager

Bio

My driving passion is doing science. The process, and methodology of scientific inquiry have always been the things that I find most engaging in a project. I'm always looking for new, innovative ways to look at problems and questions. My curiosity and creativity are endless and I'm looking for opportunities to use my technical and analytical skills. My work involves managing teams. I enjoy working with a variety of people and helping them attain their goals. I love complex situations with lots of moving parts - to me it is like putting a puzzle together. I have been involved as project manager with TEDxOshawa since it's inception in 2023. We held our first event in 2024. I love TED talks and being part of a TEDx has given me a new appreciation for ideas and presenting them succinctly.

I'm passionate about

I'm passionate about human potential. I am passionate about learning. I am passionate about helping and growing communities. I am most of all passionate about creative endeavors. I love art and culture and theater. But most of all I am passionate about cats!

An idea worth spreading

Everyone should adopt a child... We would not need orphanages if everyone adopted a child. Every child would have a parent if everyone adopted a child. No one would be childless if adoption was normal instead of being extraordinary. The world is full of orphans and people who can't have biological children - but there seems to be a wall dividing the two. Even though many adoptions happen it is still not the norm. Growing up in a single parent family, I always wanted a sibling. I wanted my mother to adopt another child. I have carried this idea with me since I was in elementary school.

Areas of expertise

Data Science, Linguistics, Project management

The TED story

I have listened to so many TED and TEDx talks that I cannot keep count. I have learnt a lot and enjoyed many of them. But now that I see the process from the inside, I have a totally different perspective of it. From being part of TEDxOshawa I now see what makes a TED talk special. I love the process of putting the event together and the collective pride we feel as a team when our speakers take the stage. I am sure I will be on that stage one day with an idea worth spreading of my own. In the meantime, I am quite happy being part of the volunteer team. This year, I plan to attend TEDAI in Vienna. I am super excited about it. I am looking forward to seeing a different perspective of TED and interacting and learning from the amazing gathering of minds that is about to take place. I am project manager for the TEDxOshawa team responsible for running the Event Day - it is a very long day preceded by a couple of very busy months of preparation. In addition, I am part of the speaker selection committee and happy to pitch in where ever needed. I have also attended TEDxUofT, while I was studying at the University of Toronto.
