Bruna Gil Ferreira

Dr. Bruna Gil Ferreira is a leading force in ophthalmology and retina surgery in Brazil, serving as the Clinical Director at Instituto Suel Abujamra and Head of the Surgical Retina Department. She leads the medical team of Brazil’s second largest eye hospital serving the public health system, overseeing a team of more than 100 ophthalmologists, 26 fellows, and 21 residents—a role that places her at the forefront of surgical retina care and education in Latin America. Bruna completed her post-graduation in Retina Surgery at the University of Montreal, where she performed over 2,000 complex surgeries in just two years. She also holds a Medical Retina Fellowship, Ophthalmology Residency, and Medical Degree from UNICAMP (São Paulo, Brazil). Beyond clinical practice, Bruna is a recognized global leader in social ophthalmology. As Medical Director at Renovatio, she has played a pivotal role in developing medical protocols and coordinating a team of ophthalmologists that has provided eye care to more than 500,000 people across 25 Brazilian states, Mozambique, Haiti, and India.
