Bio
Chris Sichel serves in the role of Co-Vice President of Programs for Prebys Foundation. In that role, Chris oversees the Foundation’s Youth and Behavioral Health initiatives in addition to several of Prebys’ efforts in the leadership and health arenas. Chris has spent over 25 years in senior nonprofit leadership roles in the San Diego region, including serving as the President & CEO of Rancho Santa Fe Foundation, Make-A-Wish San Diego, and STAR/PAL, San Diego’s Police Athletic League.
Chris is widely recognized as a culture setting executive as well as a thought leader within the San Diego non-profit and civic communities, and served as the 111th President of the San Diego Rotary Club in 2020/2021, and as the San Diego Rotary Foundation President in 2021/2022.
A lifelong learner, Chris has attended Harvard Business School’s Strategic Perspectives in Non-Profit Management program, has studied at the Center for Creative Leadership and has spoken at numerous professional conferences and gatherings. Chris was awarded “Most Admired CEO” in 2018 by the San Diego Business Journal, a recognition that he also earned in 2011. Chris was further honored to be named by the San Diego Business Journal as one of San Diego’s 500 most influential leaders for the past several years.
On a personal note, Chris is an outdoor enthusiast with interests in hiking and traveling, as well as stand-up paddle boarding . Chris has walked several routes of the Camino de Santiago in Spain and Portugal in recent years. Chris has been married to Coleen for 35 years, and together they have 3 adult children. Chris’ favorite quote is: “Create a life that you don’t need to escape from”.
