Bio

I'm an author and journalist who has worked across print, digital and audio platforms. Currently, I work at The Globe and Mail, Canada's national newspaper, overseeing a team of reporters covering health, education, medical research, social issues and online culture. I've hosted radio shows for the Canadian Broadcast Corporation, co-created a podcast about women and power and produced a documentary about smalltown Pride Day celebrations. My 2018 book, Boys: What it Means to Become a Man (HarperCollins Canada/Seal Press), explored how young men are shaped by cultural gender norms and how we can encourage them to expand their definitions of manliness and engage in the movement for gender equality.

I'm passionate about

As a newsroom leader, award-winning journalist, editor and author I'm passionate about producing compelling, innovative, high-impact storytelling. My objectives are to practice journalism with humanity, integrity and intelligence and to help to expand the perspectives and voices in media, and to make newsrooms more equitable and diverse.
