About Sophia

Bio

I believe that some of the most powerful ideas come from ordinary people willing to speak honestly about extraordinary experiences.

I'm passionate about

I’m passionate about leadership, communication, storytelling, and creating opportunities for others. I love bringing people together around ideas that challenge perspectives and spark meaningful discussion. I’m also interested in law, ethics, psychology, and the ways people use language and storytelling to influence the world around them. Outside of academics, I enjoy reading, public speaking, organizing events, and working on projects that allow people to express themselves creatively and authentically.

An idea worth spreading

The most powerful ideas are often the ones that make people feel seen. I believe storytelling has the ability to connect people across completely different experiences and backgrounds, especially when speakers are willing to be honest about challenges, identity, failure, growth, or uncertainty. In a world where so much communication is filtered and curated, authentic conversations can inspire real change. I want TEDx to create a space where students and community members realize that their voices, experiences, and perspectives matter more than they think.

The TED story

For me, TEDx is about building a community that values creativity, courage, and thoughtful conversation. I hope the event encourages people not only to listen differently, but also to leave feeling inspired to share their own ideas and experiences with confidence.

Things you might not know

People don’t always know that I’m good at organizing and leading behind the scenes. I enjoy taking ideas that seem overwhelming and turning them into something structured, collaborative, and meaningful. I’m also good at connecting with people individually, listening carefully, and helping others feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and experiences. While I enjoy public speaking, I think some of my strongest skills are actually in communication, planning, and bringing out the best ideas in other people.
