Bio
With over 25 years in public service, I am deeply committed to advancing sexual health equity in Black communities and addressing the disproportionate health outcomes we face. I live my life in and with gratitude, centering my efforts on community, kindness, and the power of simply showing up.
Beyond my work, I am a proud mother to incredible adult children and the wife of an amazing partner who shares my belief that every moment is an opportunity—to reset, to educate, and to uplift. At the core of everything I do is a simple yet powerful reminder: just be kind. We’re all figuring it out together.
I'm passionate about
Beyond policy and public service, I am passionate about human connection and the ripple effects of kindness—how small, intentional actions can transform lives, shift narratives, and create lasting change. I believe in the power of education, advocacy, and simply holding space for people to be seen, heard, and valued.
At my core, I live my life in gratitude, embracing every moment as an opportunity to reset, uplift, and move forward together.

The TED story
My story is one of presence, resilience, and impact—a journey that has spanned over 25 years in public service, rooted in advocacy, health equity, and the belief that sometimes, all we have to do is show up.
Throughout my work addressing sexual health disparities in Black communities, I have seen how systemic barriers marginalize people—but I have also witnessed the power of consistent, intentional presence to shift outcomes and create meaningful change. I have learned that solutions don’t always require perfection or immediate answers, but rather a commitment to listening, educating, and meeting people where they are.
But this isn’t just about my professional work—it’s personal. As a mother, a wife, a mentor, and a community leader, I carry this philosophy into every aspect of my life. I believe in the ripple effect of small, intentional acts. Whether I’m supporting young leaders, advocating for systemic change, or simply offering kindness to someone navigating their own journey, I know that showing up, again and again, can change lives.
