About Iganachi
Bio
My name is Iganachi Razaki Omia, born and raised in Yumbe, Northern Uganda. I’m the founder of Omia Agribusiness, a company that is deeply rooted in supporting farmers to succeed through access to climate-smart agro inputs such as seeds, real-time extension services/training and linkages to profitable markets. The company employs 81 full time staff, has 15 retail outlets across Uganda combined with a network of over 178 rural agents and a simple USSD Code *284*173# for digital access. Since operations started in 2018, we have supported over 49,000 farmers to grow more food, send their kids to school and afford medical care. By 2030, we will transform lives of half a million smallholder farmers in East Africa, enhancing food security, access to education, health care and an improved social life.
I'm passionate about
I am passionate about empowering smallholder farmers, refugees, youth, and women through agriculture, entrepreneurship, and market-driven solutions. I believe in economic self-reliance over aid dependency and am committed to creating sustainable agribusiness ecosystems and value chains that provide access to quality and climate-smart agro inputs, extension services, irrigation systems, and market linkages.
An idea worth spreading
Empowering Refugee and Smallholder Farmers Through Market-Driven Solutions.
Why?
Refugees and smallholder farmers are often seen as aid recipients rather than economic contributors. But what if we flipped this narrative? Instead of relying on handouts, we can create sustainable, market-driven solutions that integrate them into value chains, giving them access to climate-smart agricultural inputs, training, financing, and markets.
The Impact
By equipping them with the right tools and opportunities, they can feed themselves, create jobs, and build resilient communities, reducing dependency on humanitarian aid.
The Challenge to the World
If we invest in refugee and smallholder farmers as entrepreneurs, we don’t just solve food insecurity—we unlock a hidden engine of economic growth and social transformation.
