Nawa Joe Silishebo

Nawa Joe Silishebo is a passionate leader dedicated to creating and contributing to positive change and impact. He holds an MBA in Project Management from Aberystwyth University in the United Kingdom. Nawa is an alumnus of the prestigious Mandela Washington Fellowship by the U.S. Department of State and a recipient of the esteemed Chevening Scholarship by the UK FCDO. With a robust background in project management, Nawa has successfully managed complex projects such as the Nurturing Opportunities for Agroecology Growth, Resilience, and Organic Cultivation to Harness Ecological Methods (NO AGROCHEM) project, The Sustainable Women-Youth Agriculture Groups (SWAG) Project, Zambia Youth for Conservation Agriculture & Livelihood Action (ZYCALA) project, Championing of Climate-Smart Agricultural Practices to Youth-Based Agribusinesses for Better Environmental and Natural Resources Management (CCSA-YBA-NRM) project and Young Agriculture Conservation Agents (YACA) project, demonstrating expertise in strategic planning, risk management, financial analysis, leadership and stakeholder communication. With a strong background in project management, he has successfully led high-impact projects that bridge gaps in climate change, Agriculture, market access, financial inclusion and policy advocacy. His work extends beyond grassroots interventions, engaging with international organizations, governments and development partners to implement projects and shape policies that create enabling environments for youth-centric solutions. Nawa's work has earned him international recognition. He is a recipient of the 2021 Commonwealth Youth Awards for Excellence in Development Work, the Opportunities Hub 10 Most Active Global Change-Makers Award, and the 2022 Zambia National Commercial Bank (ZANACO) Youth Climate Change Award. In addition to his project management and community engagement roles, Nawa serves as a Board Member of the Advisory Board on Social Innovation Research at Aberystwyth University. He was the Chairperson and lead convener of the 2024 Southern Africa Regional Conference of Youth on Climate Change which attracted over 500 participants from the SADC and COMESA regions. More recently, Nawa was identified as a valuable contributor to the 2024 TED Countdown Dilemma series on the future of food, where he co-facilitated a session on developing a conscious food system and achieving inner shifts for outer change.
