The typical school experience is often filled with joy, but mine was overshadowed by bullying. I faced relentless comparisons to cartoon characters and endured a barrage of paper notes taunting me. Yet, in those moments when my appearance seemed to matter more than the potential within me, I found my voice. It became my lifeline, empowering me to stand up for myself and assert my worth. As the years went by, I uncovered the many dimensions of my voice. I embraced every opportunity to refine its skills. The first revelation came when I expressed pure joy at receiving a set of crayons, realizing my voice could convey emotion. Then, I discovered the power of speaking up when I was cornered, finding strength in my words. Singing emerged as a third facet, inspired by my grandmother, who taught me a raga while playing the harmonium. Lastly, I learned the art of communicating ideas and opinions by watching my brother deliver speeches with conviction. This journey led me to use my voice to advocate for those who have been wronged, spark conversations about social issues, sing in different languages, and express a wide range of emotions through theater. My voice is invaluable to me; it is a tool for change, allowing me to uplift others and make a meaningful impact in the world. Joining the TED community would provide me with a platform to amplify my message and connect with others who share a passion for making a difference. I want to encourage individuals to embrace their voices, just as I learned to embrace mine, and to understand that every voice has the potential to create positive change in the world.

For the past six years, I’ve immersed myself in Hindustani classical music, exploring its intricate rhythms and melodies. Currently, I’m also learning Western classical music as I prepare for my Grade 5 exam. Alongside these, I play the Piano, Guitar and the Ukulele, finding joy in each instrument’s unique voice. I often perform at charity events and compete in various contests, sharing my passion with others and using music to support meaningful causes. Through this journey, I’ve developed essential time-management skills and a strong sense of perseverance. Music has taught me discipline and the importance of dedication, helping me grow both as a musician and as a person.
