About Uchechukwu
Bio
Uchechukwu Obasi is a clinical medical student at Abia State University, Uturu where he is currently undergoing training to become a medical doctor to achieve his dream of changing the narrative of the health sector in Nigeria.
He is also passionate about youth leadership and social impact, being an active advocate of SDGs 3 and 4 and a serial volunteer as he actively volunteers with a number of active NGOs and groups within that focus on the advancement of health and education.
Working to create a world where Nigeria will not be left behind especially in the areas of health and education, he has quickly become an inspiration to young leaders across Nigeria, exemplifying the values of integrity, humility and teamwork. He champions inclusion in his work, portraying a sense of responsibility and respect towards everyone irrespective of background, ethnicity, religion or other diversities.
Over the past year, Uchechukwu has served as the National Coordinator of CHES Empowerment Foundation in Nigeria, an NGO centered on community development through the active collaborative efforts and engagement of passionate youths and young leaders across Nigeria. Leading large groups of vibrant and passionate youths in Nigeria, he channels this passion into creating social interventions in the areas of health and wellness, education and skill acquisition for all age groups across Nigeria.
Uchechukwu is a student representative, working with other leaders to ensure that students are treated rightly by the school management and student governments in his college.
His dedication to service is top-notch as he also serves as the Southeast Regional Assistant for the standing committee of Nigerian Medical Students’ Association (NiMSA) on matters relating to the SDGs. In this capacity, he coordinates over over 1000 medical students across over 6 medical schools in South Eastern Nigeria to advance the SDGs by encouraging students to take action through active participation in advocacy as a means to achieve national development.
Uchechukwu is a critical thinker, with an insatiable thirst for knowledge having acquired knowledge, skills and certification in diverse areas like entrepreneurship from the Unilever level-up training. He is also a certified first responder in acute hemorrhage emergencies after the completion of the training by “Stop the Bleed” group. He is also a certified diplomat having undergone training by the International Model United Nations amongst others.
He is also a content creator - YouTube @thebarddoctor, writer, poet and public speaker.
