Bio
Sudharshini Ram is a student coder and researcher passionate about building technology that is both innovative and socially responsible. Her projects span AI for clinical research, diagnostic software for virology, and privacy tools designed to protect people from AI-driven surveillance. She is drawn to the space where computer science meets real human need, especially in health, ethics, and safety. A strong advocate for more inclusive technology, she cares deeply about helping more girls see that they belong in STEM not just as participants, but as creators of the future.
I'm passionate about
I’m passionate about building technology that solves real problems without ignoring the people most vulnerable to its failures. That includes creating socially responsible AI, protecting young people from digital harm, advancing women’s safety and health, and making technical systems more accountable. I also care deeply about youth leadership and public-facing advocacy, especially when it helps translate complex issues like AI bias, privacy, and health inequity into conversations that can drive change.
An idea worth spreading
AI does not just reflect society. It can reinforce its deepest inequalities. When we treat algorithms as objective, we ignore the fact that they are trained on human decisions shaped by bias, exclusion, and silence. If we want AI to serve people fairly, we cannot design it for efficiency alone. We have to design it with accountability, friction, and the voices of those most affected by its blind spots.

The TED story
As I grew more involved in the fields of STEM and technology, I became increasingly interested not just in how technology works, but in how it shapes people’s lives and who gets included in building it. That curiosity pushed me to think more deeply about responsibility, equity, and the human impact behind innovation. I’m especially passionate about uplifting women in STEM and helping create a future where more girls feel confident taking up space in technical fields, sharing their ideas, and leading with them.
Things you might not know
Turning complex technical ideas into clear, human stories. Whether I’m moderating policy discussions, presenting research, or building tools, I enjoy making difficult topics understandable and actionable. I’m also strong at connecting people across very different spaces, from science and engineering to advocacy and community organizing.
