She also presented her research on bone mineral density changes using testosterone in postmenopausal women. As a multi-modality specialist, she is able to address patients’ health needs in a more comprehensive way and is dedicated to helping others improve their health and well-being using an evidence based approach. She has been an advocate for hormone therapy her entire career.

I'm passionate about

I am passionate about women’s health, my family, and fitness. With success and stability of the latter, my remaining time is focused on helping women feel their best and advocating for their rights. I have an unending passion and curiosity to keep learning and love being an educator. I am an advocate, both professionally and legislatively, for women in every aspect of their lifespan. I’m forthright about being a voice for those who don’t have one and understand that you don’t have choices, if you don’t have knowledge. The future is not set and the trajectory of women is not guaranteed.

An idea worth spreading

Perimenopausal and menopausal women are suffering needlessly due to hormone imbalance and they have been misled. I’ve set out to change this. Each year, over the past decade, more and more women have been taking hormone replacement therapy including testosterone. This is despite negative media messaging and no advocacy from main stream medicine. This yearly increase is because women network with each other and are hardwired to help each other. Knowledge is fire. The challenge for me is to light as many fires as possible and to inspire and empower others to do the same.

Things you might not know

I am also an athlete and have a background in sports medicine and nutrition. I from University with honors in nutritional sciences and was a member of the women’s national championship polo team. After college, I played basketball on a co-ed team in medical school and later on a women’s recreation league basketball team. I was the team physician for the women’s pro basketball in Denver, the Colorado Explosion. At the state level, I was an invited expert on the panel to create the Colorado Childhood Obesity guidelines and worked locally as well, changing school policy to address this epidemic. In the local school district, I have also worked on sexuality, contraceptive and puberty education, and policy’s for concussion evaluation and management of student athletes. My husband (orthopedic surgeon) and I have done medical volunteer work in Bhutan, Cambodia, Nicaragua, Peru and Mongolia. We have taken our 3 children with us on all of these volunteer trips. Children are the best ambassadors! I have research pending publication on the impact of testosterone on bone mineral density in postmenopausal women. I enjoy outdoor sports and drive my grandmothers 1966 Chevy, surfer blue, homemade convertible on sunny, summer days!
