About Jeremy

Bio

Emergency physician and assistant professor at Harvard Medical School/Brigham and Women’s Hospital in the division of health policy and public health. I am editor-in-chief of MedPage Today and I write the Inside Medicine newsletter on Substack. Prior essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, Scientific American, and Slate, and I’ve been a frequent guest on television and radio. My research on COVID-19 outcomes and policy has been published in The Journal of the American Medical Association, the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, Lancet Infectious Diseases, The British Medical Journal, and others. Additionally, I am fortunate to be artistic director and conductor of the Longwood Chorus, a 75-voice ensemble of health care professionals and students dedicated to performing high quality choral music in Boston.

I'm passionate about

Leveraging data to improve outbreak surveillance and outcomes. (And medical/health outcomes and policy overall.)

An idea worth spreading

Covid-19: Was that a dry run? Nobody knows. But I know this: We can do far better without necessarily shutting down as we did. Very few people understand what just really happened. It’s going to take years to figure it out. You’d be shocked. Both extremes are wrong (but the reality is somewhat closer to the more “worried” contingent during key moments). Let’s dive in to that and save 50 million lives!
