About Thin Lei
Bio
Born and raised in Myanmar, Thin has been working for the Thomson Reuters Foundation since 2008. Based out of Bangkok, Thin has worked on award-winning humanitarian news coverage in Southeast and East Asia, on issues as wide-ranging as disasters, conflicts, climate change, women’s rights, refugees and displacement, and governance. Thin caught the journalism bug in her final year of studies in Business Management after she spent a year interning at a publishing house in Singapore in 2000. To her parents' initial consternation, she eschewed the business world for life as a roving reporter, including in the U.K. and Vietnam. Thin is back home on secondment to set up Myanmar Now (www.myanmar-now.org), a small, independent bilingual news agency focusing on in-depth features, analysis and investigative pieces.
