Bio
Florian is a serial-entrepreneur with interest in disruptive business models.
While exploring entrepreneurial approaches to decarbonisation, Florian realised the negative climate impact of drained peatlands. This led to the founding of ZukunftMoor, a company that aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by rewetting drained peatlands and establishing agriculture on these rewetted lands.
Prior to turning his focus to decarbonisation, Florian founded myToys in 1999 which became the leading eCommerce specialist for the young family in Europe. After creating and developing two health care businesses in between, Florian returned to the leadership of myToys from 2015 to 2020.
Florian has experience in navigating the early stages of a company as well as managing much larger organisations for growth. He combines a passion for tech, product & data and the environment with strong people and organisational development skills.
Before becoming an entrepreneur, Florian worked in consulting for Booz, Allen & Hamilton. He complemented his studies of business and economics (WHU Koblenz) with an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School.

An idea worth spreading
Drained peatlands account for around 4% of all Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) worldwide (nearly 2 gigatons). Drained peatlands are mainly used for agriculture. Landowners currently lack economic incentices to rewet their lands. Paludiculture, the agriculture on rewetted peatlands, provides this economic perspective and can be a catalyst for addressing the large scale GHG emissions of drained peatlands.
