Bio

I’m an experienced educator, Behaviour Support leader, and Secondary English and PSHE teacher at GEMS Winchester School Dubai. With a B.Ed., a PhD, and a UAE Educational Leadership Licence, I’m committed to promoting positive behaviour, student wellbeing, and a supportive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive. Through my leadership in Behaviour Support and involvement in TEDxGEMS Winchester School Dubai Youth, I strive to empower young people, encourage critical thinking, and inspire positive change. Recognised for my dedication and long-standing contribution to education, I believe in the power of strong relationships, restorative practices, and continuous growth to help students become confident, responsible, and compassionate individuals.

I'm passionate about

I’m passionate about my family, my work, and the little things that make life beautiful. My family is my biggest source of strength and motivation, and they remind me of what truly matters in life. As an educator, I love making a difference in young people’s lives, helping them discover their potential, build confidence, and believe in themselves. I find fulfilment in knowing that even a small gesture or a few encouraging words can leave a lasting impact. Beyond work, I enjoy good food, reading, shopping, and discovering new experiences. I believe in living life to the fullest, appreciating the present, celebrating small joys, and making time for the people and things that bring happiness. For me, life is about finding a balance between ambition and gratitude, working towards my dreams while enjoying the journey. I believe there is always something new to learn, something to look forward to, and an opportunity to become a better version of myself.

An idea worth spreading

I believe that every idea has the power to make a difference, no matter how small it may seem. In education, a simple conversation, a moment of kindness, or a second chance can change the way a student sees themselves and the world around them. As an educator and Behaviour Support leader, I have learned that behind every behaviour is a young person who needs to be understood, supported, and encouraged to grow. Sometimes, what a student needs most is not criticism, but someone who believes in their potential. For me, ideas worth spreading are those that inspire empathy, challenge assumptions, and create positive change. They encourage us to listen before we judge, understand before we react, and see possibilities where others may see limitations. Through education and platforms such as TEDx, we have an opportunity to give young people a voice, share meaningful perspectives, and inspire others to think differently. Because when an idea touches one mind, it has the potential to influence many lives. I believe that the world does not change through big ideas alone. It changes when we put meaningful ideas into action, one person, one conversation, and one positive choice at a time.

The TED story

My journey as an educator has taught me that every person has a story, and sometimes, the people who appear strongest are fighting battles others know nothing about. Through my work in education and Behaviour Support, I have learned the importance of empathy, resilience, and believing in people's potential. My own experiences have taught me to keep moving forward, even when things don't go as planned, and to continue striving for a better future for myself and my family. I believe that small acts of kindness, powerful ideas, and the courage to share our experiences can inspire change. My TED story is about resilience, finding your voice, and remembering that our challenges do not define us; how we rise above them does.

Things you might not know

People don’t know I’m good at picking myself up after disappointments, understanding people beyond what they show on the surface, and finding my own way even when things don’t go as planned. I’m good at bringing people together, expressing my thoughts, and even cooking something delicious in very little time! I also have a strong spiritual connection that helps me find inner strength, stay hopeful, and keep moving forward. I may not always show it, but I’m more resilient, independent, compassionate, and ambitious than people realise.
