I write about business and careers -my newest book is the WSJ bestseller “The Long Game: How to Be a Long-Term Thinker in a Short-Term World" (HBR Press, 2021). I also teach executive education for Duke's Fuqua School of Business and Columbia Business School. In days of yore, I was a political journalist & presidential campaign spokesperson. (My candidates always lost.) Fun facts: I have a graduate degree from Harvard Divinity School and was a producer of a 2x Grammy-winning jazz album. I also invest in Broadway and write musical theater (I'm a lyricist in BMI's Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Advanced Workshop). My pandemic strategy: weekly ping-pong lessons, (tried to) learn latte art, now splitting my time between NYC and Miami.

Glad to be back for my third TED! Fun fact: thanks to a recommendation from fellow TEDster Jeff Marx (creator of Avenue Q), I applied for and was accepted to a prestigious musical theater writing program run by BMI, the music licensing organization. I'm now in their Advanced Workshop and have completed a sexy lesbian spy thriller musical!
