About Emma

Bio

Emma Davis is a community-engaged dancer, educator, choreographer, and scholar in Flint, Michigan. Davis is passionate about dance’s transformational power in non-traditional environments and the meaning it provides in people’s lives. Davis is a PhD in Dance candidate at Texas Woman’s University. Her research includes community dance practices as a method for community organizing and social change. Her choreography integrates community narratives and local histories around social justice and environmental issues including climate change, de-industrialism, and water as a human right. Davis performs as a company member with Limón-based modern dance company, DDCdances, in Detroit and as a back-up dancer with singer Tunde Olaniran, performing national tours in ten major cities and internationally in England and France.
