About Saima

Bio

Saima works at the Climate Risk and Strategy team at KPMG UK. She has helped businesses with setting their sustainability strategies and identifying their climate risks. She is a Committee Member for the Leaders 2050 network - a KPMG led network focusing on young professionals’ voices for a sustainable future with over 2,500 members. Saima sits on the Emerging Leaders Committee for Anthropy23 and is the KPMG representative for the Social Mobility Foundation ESG working group. As a passionate advocate for Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (IDE), Saima played a fundamental role in the Leaders 2050 Diversity for Net Zero series with the MCA recognising the report as a ‘cutting-edge’ piece of thought leadership to provide companies with a framework for including IDE in climate-related decision-making. This year, she is co-leading the Leaders 2050 Net Zero Influencers series, investigating the most effective means to have young professionals’ voices represented at the most senior levels of their companies. Saima is a practising Muslim woman of South-Asian heritage and a first-generation university graduate; thus, is passionate about elevating the voices of these under-represented groups both in corporate and environmental spaces whilst sharing personal experiences. She is an avid mentor for young people from these backgrounds. Saima sits on the committee for TWO BILLION Strong - an organisation dedicated to amplifying the voice of Muslims for climate action. As a trailblazer, Saima was the person of ethnic minority heritage to represent Ofgem at the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER) at the EU Commission in Brussels. Saima has previously held positions at the House of Commons, HM Treasury, and Ofgem.
