Yichen Tao earned her bachelor’s degree in International Studies at Ewha Woman’s University, concentrating on International Economics, Marketing, Laws, and Diplomacy. After graduation, she got an offer from the London School of Economics and started her own business With Breeze, a social enterprise focusing on social innovation in rural China. The team she leads has achieved comprehensive rural empowerment through planting new red rice in the wasteland, educating local villagers noodle making skills, redesigning local traditional culture and renovating ancient buildings, providing art education to rural left-behind children, and developing online programs to help villagers transform economic value through the internet. She was interviewed by China Daily, Stanford Social Innovation Review, Vacation Tour Magazine, and several influential media. Simultaneously, Tao possesses intercultural communication skills to a singular degree. She has been responsible for public relations and event execution for Associazione Cina-Italia di Shanghai backed by both Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and Italy. She has been in charge of cooperation activities between many international brands and Chinese intangible cultural heritage, including Casio, Hennessy, Loewe, etc. She has assumed the Vice President of the G20 Young Entrepreneurs’ Alliance Shanghai Hub due to her excellent ability for international communication and brand management. She was also selected as the International Ambassador of Ewha Woman’s University as well as the Foreigner Supervisor of the Seoul Metropolitan Government. Using practical experience as a stepping stone, Tao has continuously refined her academic abilities. She currently works part-time as a research assistant in the Ready or Not program supervised by Cambridge University and Tsinghua University. She used to be a research assistant in the Department of Economics at Harvard University. She not only has publicly published her papers at the University of Geneva and the University of Oxford but has been invited as a guest to participate in many international conferences, including the 66th and 68th United Nations Conference on Civil Society Organizations, and the Digital Women Forum at Columbia University.
