Bio
As both a business woman and a longtime professional photographer, Robin brings her creative eye and leadership skills to Cause-based documentary films. Her years in fine art photography give her a keen vision for the artistic design of CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap; her experience in the business world affords her a unique perspective on what it takes to change an industry. Previously, Robin co-directed and produced the documentary feature, Running for Jim, which won 14 awards at 21 film festivals in the U.S. and abroad. Robin received her BA from UC Berkeley and her MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management. She has spoken about the importance of increased diversity in computer programming on CNN Money's Risk & Reward, CNN Leslie Segall, Bloomberg West's Emily Chang and Bloomberg Radio with Katherine Oliver, BBC International and Triangulation with Leo Laporte. Robin has spoken about the ramifications of the gender gap at the Global World Congress 2015, SXSW Interactive Conference 2015, AT&T Foundry FutureCast and is a keynote speaker at InspireFest 2015 in Dublin, ObjCGN in Cologne, and Dell Women Entrepreneur's Network in Berlin, 2015. An idea worth spreading
The gender gap in tech is not just a gender issue. Nor is it just an ethnicity issue. It's an enormous looming economic issue in the United States. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, by the year 2020 there will be 1,000,000 unfilled computer science related jobs in the USA.
