About Simran

Bio

I’m CEO of Longview Philanthropy, a non-profit philanthropic advisory and grantmaking org. We advise philanthropists and foundations around the world giving >$1 million p.a. completely free-of-charge. We were founded in 2018 focusing on AI safety & governance and pandemic preparedness (years before COVID and the mainstreaming of advanced AI). We added nuclear weapons policy as a focus area in late 2021. Prior to Longview, I was an equity analyst at Goldman Sachs in London (best stockpickers in London in 2018) and prior to that I was a high school maths teacher with Teach First (the UK version of Teach for America).

I'm passionate about

My work! Helping individual philanthropists and foundations move capital to the incredible people making the world a safer place (in AI, nuclear, pandemics). I hope I earn the title of ‘good ancestor’. As well as advising major donors on where to give, Longview hosts exclusive events bringing together world experts and Giving Pledge level philanthropists. Our previous summits have brought together AI experts including Geoffrey Hinton (Nobel laureate), Yoshua Bengio (Turing Award) and Dawn Song and philanthropists and foundations representing >$150 billion in net worth. We are planning a Nuclear philanthropy summit in 4Q25 - let me know if you’d like to learn more!

An idea worth spreading

Philanthropy focused on certain neglected areas can do what governments can’t and markets won’t. Philanthropy at its best is world changing - I’m excited to talk to people about philanthropy in advanced AI, nuclear weapons, and pandemics
