Bio
Olivia mentors young changemakers in Malawi and is designing a new home for problem solvers in Kasungu that will help farmers co-create simple solutions that change lives. Olivia Scott Kamkwamba is a performance studies researcher who examines aid and education in Malawi and the American South with care, creativity, and Dreamville. Olivia challenges organizations and individuals to think about history, their place in it, and how they can participate in envisioning, guiding, and controlling our collective futures. Olivia researches educational inequalities in aid through a performance studies lens in Africa and the United States. Olivia’s work creates spaces for conversation between practitioners and scholars. She is also a certified UAS pilot working to incorporate GIS in development practices. Olivia completed her doctorate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Education. Olivia studied theater and African and African American studies at Dartmouth College and completed her M.A. in International Education at UNC-Chapel Hill.
