Bio
I am a writer, educator and consultant focused on the social and business implications of new technology, especially in the areas of entertainment and popular culture.
I write regularly for Forbes, Publishers Weekly and ICv2, and contribute to several other publications. I am also author of 6 books including COMIC-CON AND THE BUSINESS OF POP CULTURE, YOUNG WORLD RISING: HOW YOUTH, TECHNOLOGY AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP ARE CHANGING THE WORLD FROM THE BOTTOM UP and LISTENING TO THE FUTURE.
I have worked for 30 years as a consultant for everyone from large global corporations (Microsoft, HP) and nonprofits (AARP) to innovative startups, helping to articulate the business and social value of new technology. I am currently advising C-level clients on market and business strategy and developing top-line messaging.
Since 2011, I have served on the faculty of the University of Washington Graduate School of Communication, teaching classes on marketing and visual storytelling in the Communication Leadership (CommLead) program.
