Bio
Dr. Amit Singhal is the Founder of the Singhal Foundation. Through his foundation, Amit is working towards educating under-privileged children in India. Before starting his work on Philanthropic causes, Amit was the Senior Vice President of Search at Google and a Google Fellow. Amit retired from Google in February 2016 to give back to his community. During his tenure at Google, Amit was responsible for development of Google Search for fifteen years, leading the world's most popular search engine through the greatest growth period in one of the world's most successful companies.
Amit is a member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and the recipient of the 2011 Outstanding Achievement in Science and Technology Award at The Asian Awards. Fortune magazine named Amit as one of "the smartest peoplein tech." Amit has published over thirty academic papers and holds numerous patents. Amit is also a prolific angel investor. A native of Dehradun in India, Amit lives in Silicon Valley with his wife, Shilpa and their two children.
