Bio
"I love seeing women come together, share knowledge and resources, open up leadership opportunities, and make informed decisions to give back and grow their communities."
I currently serve as vice chair of Philanos and a member of the resource development committee, but am closely involved with all our work and conference planning. I am a past co-chair for the collective giving circle Greenville Women Giving (Greenville, SC), where I served as a board member for 13 years, and as a co-chair for four years. I have also served as chair of the education, strategic planning, and leadership development committees.
Prior to retiring and moving to Greenville, I was an academic sociologist, teaching at Bluefield College in Bluefield, Virginia for over a decade, retiring as chair of the Social Science Division.
I earned a BA in journalism from the University of North Dakota, BA in Sociology from Florida Atlantic University, MA and PhD in Sociology from Duke University. I bring a love of research, data analysis, writing, advocating for women and leadership development of next generation women to this work.
I live with Lowrie, my husband of 44 years, in Greenville where we enjoy reading, traveling, and gardening as well as time with our three children and seven adorable grandchildren.
