Bio
In the midst of the pandemic, I co-founded a free, online, interactive STEM enrichment program for young BIPOC girls in order to help offset the devastating toll of Covid on this group of students. As a scientist, I have have seen the gender gap in STEM fields and know we need to increase the pipeline of young women entering STEM careers. In two years, Full STEAM Forward has tripled in size and now offers after-school programs in school districts in NYC, DC and Philly. Our initial outcomes have shown increases in content knowledge, self esteem and a desire to pursue a career in the sciences. Working with a group of volunteers and paid instructors and mentors, we hope to inspire a lifelong love of learning and a desire to pursue a career in STEM in the hundreds of girls who participate in our programs.
