My name is Mahdi Mostajeran. I am a mechanical engineer with a background in manufacturing and industrial design, and I have spent much of my career turning ideas into practical things. I work across industrial design, engineering, entrepreneurship, and community building. I enjoy designing products and industrial equipment, solving practical problems, and finding better ways to turn ideas into reality. But some of my most meaningful experiences have happened outside engineering. Since 2015, I have been a member of the TEDx Esfahan team. Over more than a decade, I have had the opportunity to work with people who generously share their time, energy, creativity, and experience to create something meaningful for their community. I have learned that meaningful events are rarely built by one person. They are built by teams that trust each other, people who are willing to contribute without needing to be seen, and individuals who understand that helping someone else succeed is itself a valuable contribution. I have also been involved in building communities around ideas, entrepreneurship, and learning. For more than five years, I have helped organize Hamkhan Esfahan, a community where people come together around books, ideas, conversations, and learning. My engineering background taught me how to design and build things. Working with communities taught me how to build things together. Today, I enjoy connecting people, developing ideas, solving problems, experimenting with technology, and contributing to projects that can create a positive impact beyond themselves.

The best things we build are rarely built alone. Ideas become meaningful when people are willing to share them, challenge them, improve them, and help each other bring them to life. I believe collaboration is not simply dividing tasks between people. It is generously contributing what you know, helping others become better, and making the whole team stronger. Sometimes the most valuable contribution is not being the person on the stage, but being the person behind it who helps someone else shine.

My TED story began in 2015, when I joined the TEDx Esfahan team. What began as an opportunity to contribute to an event gradually became a long-term journey of learning, collaboration, friendship, and contribution. Over the years, I have experienced the many invisible parts of a TEDx event: the conversations, planning, problem-solving, teamwork, late nights, unexpected challenges, and countless small tasks that eventually become a few meaningful hours on a stage. The biggest lesson for me has not been about organizing events. It has been about people. TEDx has shown me what can happen when a group of people with different skills and backgrounds come together around a shared purpose and generously contribute their time and energy. After more than a decade, we are now approaching our 12th year. And I still believe that the most valuable part of TEDx is not the stage. It is the people behind it.

Connecting people and ideas. I enjoy noticing connections between seemingly unrelated things, bringing the right people together, and turning conversations into action. I am also surprisingly comfortable working behind the scenes—solving problems, organizing details, building systems, and helping a team move forward without necessarily being at the center of attention.
