About Nico
Bio
I studied synthetic neurobiology. Published a paper with a Nobel prize winner. Turned down my own lab funding to try and start a new alcohol category with a goat farmer named Willie.
Grew that company to 10M cumulative retail sales, earned Forbes30u30, came so close to a 25M exit to a multinational.. then they backed off as inflation roared and competition flooded our segment. I failed to raise a bridge. We sold the company for scraps.
I learned a lot from that journey. Top of the list:
1. I love entrepreneurship
2. I want to help solve much bigger problems (climate change)
3. My values are Foster Growth, No BS, Have a Soul, Be Curious & Innovate, Live Responsibly
Now I’m using my research at the Department of Energy (DOE) and studies at Stanford Business School and Columbia Earth School to start my next chapter as a climate entrepreneur.
I'm passionate about
Electric grids. Ecosystem protection. Neuroscience. Ethics. AI. Learning through the pain of entrepreneurship.
The beauty of random mishaps. Breathing in to discomfort and self doubt and learning from the trembles.
An idea worth spreading
We should really think about deploying giant umbrella satellites to flexibly block .1.-.5% of solar radiation.
It may be our last and our least expensive chance to avoid flooded cities, wet bulb heat waves, an Amazon desert..
