Bio
I'm a two-time founder in sub-Saharan Africa. As Co-Founder and CEO of Numida I'm responsible for securing the talent and resources to allow us to achieve our mission of enabling 1 million small business owners across the continent to achieve their dreams. To date we have provided more than $12 million in working capital to 19,000 businesses in Uganda.
Prior to Numida, I was an Acumen Global Fellow and interim COO at the foodtech social enterprise, SiembraViva, in Medellin, Colombia. Prior to this I co-founded Kulemela, a lending business that provided working capital loans to agricultural enterprises that had a food security focus in West Africa.
I'm Egyptian and Canadian and I've spent the past 12 years working and living all over sub-Saharan Africa focused on solving foundational problems that prevent communities from thriving. I deeply believe that with access to the right resources, small businesses will drive economic development across the continent and generate prosperity for millions of people.
I'm passionate about
financial inclusion, fintech, startups, small businesses, Africa
