Bio

I'm Usman Idris Abdullahi, an archaeologist, communicator, and youth development advocate from Kaduna State, Nigeria. I believe that ideas become truly powerful when they inspire action and improve lives. I currently serve as the Curator of TEDxSabonGari, Special Assistant on Media to Hon. Sadiq Ango Abdullahi (Member, House of Representatives, Sabon Gari Federal Constituency), and Co-Secretary of Youth Advocacy Coalition on Demographic Dividend. Through these roles, I work at the intersection of leadership, public policy, community development, and storytelling. My mission is to bridge gaps between people, opportunities, and ideas by empowering young people, promoting innovation, and advancing sustainable development. Whether through public speaking, advocacy, media, or community engagement, I am committed to building a future where every young person has the opportunity to lead, create, and thrive.

I'm passionate about

Youth leadership and empowerment. Building platforms that amplify ideas and inspire action. Community development and sustainable social impact. Public policy and demographic dividend advocacy. Storytelling, media, and strategic communication. Heritage preservation and archaeology. Education, innovation, and lifelong learning. Good governance, civic participation, and transparency. Creating opportunities that help young people unlock their full potential.

An idea worth spreading

Every community has untapped potential, and every young person has a voice capable of changing the world. When we connect knowledge with opportunity, leadership with service, and innovation with purpose, we create lasting solutions to society's greatest challenges. Development is not the responsibility of governments alone—it is a shared mission that requires citizens, leaders, and communities working together. The future belongs to those who are willing to build bridges instead of barriers, collaborate instead of compete, and turn bold ideas into meaningful action.

The TED story

My TED journey began with a simple belief: every person has an idea capable of changing someone's life. Growing up in sabon gari LGAKaduna State, I witnessed extraordinary people with powerful stories whose voices often went unheard. That inspired me to become a bridge between ideas and the communities that need them most. As the Curator of TEDxSabonGari, I am committed to creating a platform where innovators, leaders, entrepreneurs, researchers, and everyday changemakers can share ideas that spark conversations and inspire action. Our theme, "Bridging the Gap," reflects my conviction that progress happens when we connect people across generations, disciplines, and opportunities. Beyond TED, my work in youth development, public policy advocacy, media, and archaeology continues to shape my belief that meaningful change begins with a single idea shared courageously. For me, TED is more than an event, it's a movement that empowers people to think differently, challenge assumptions, and build a better future together.

Things you might not know

Outside my professional roles, I'm naturally skilled at bringing people together around a shared vision. I enjoy mentoring young leaders, organizing impactful events, building partnerships, and turning ideas into practical initiatives. Many people also don't know that I have a strong background in archaeology, enjoy writing speeches and thought-provoking articles, and have a passion for strategic communication and storytelling. I love creating systems, coordinating teams, and helping others bring their ideas to life.
