Bio
Susan Goldie is a cross-disciplinary, mixed media artist living in Lafayette California. Currently transitioning to life as a full-time artist, Susan's career has followed a path fueled by a deep love of creating fashion and art.
Exciting turns early in her career included costume design production in remote international locations for Club Med, and for musical theater in Toronto, Canada. Her first business was creating couture bridal and red-carpet designs, also in Toronto, Canada.
In 2006, Susan co-founded and became a pioneer for a brand new concept in North America: the local sewing studio. She created sewnow!, an innovative studio concept that led the way for a whole new generation of fashion creators and small business owners.
Having inspired many staff and students during the sewnow! years to follow their creative dreams, Susan is now ‘walking the talk’ with the launch of Susan Goldie Art in 2022. She is excited to make her paintings and art-to-wear available to all via her website: susangoldie.com.

The TED story
For many years, I absorbed TED second hand, listening in awe to the thought provoking and life changing ideas and content of the TED conference. From my tag-along fabric-shopping trip to Kobe in '93, to the many hours I have spent immersed in TED content from the sidelines, TED was very present in my life even though I did not have the opportunity to attend in person. Finally, I was thrilled to attend TEDIndia, and over the moon that it was in Mysore where the incredible textiles (like the conference), vibrated with colour and life. It was a perfect fit for me and the best birthday present ever! Fast forward to 2022, and I am super excited to attend TED Women Presents, and although I'm a little sad that it won't be in person, I'm very much looking forward to the speaker content and connecting with community.
